C- the best letter in the alphabet!

I passed my boards!! Miriam Patterson, PA-C. I’m so excited, and I must say that it is the perfect gift for my 25th birthday!! The last couple of weeks have been such a whirlwind, between graduation, the board review course, and trying to review everything I’ve learned in the last two years! I am on cloud nine- summer has officially begun!

I’m kicking off my new stress free, carefree life with a trip to the mall, a few hours by the pool, and a birthday celebration tonight with some of my favorite people in the world! Lucky? Yes. Happy? You bet. Blessed? Beyond belief!

Miriam Patterson, Physician Assistant

I did it!! I graduated with a Master of Medical Science degree from Wake Forest University and am officially a physician assistant!! The last two years have been incredibly amazing, and I can't thank my family and friends enough for your support and love! PA school has truly changed me. I have formed life long friendships and have carved out a little piece of the PA profession to call my own. In the past 24 months, I spent endless time at Victoria Hall, slept in the bunkbeds with my pager next to my ear, laughed, cried, and truly soaked up every single moment of this incredible journey.

Caffeine Culture

During my first semester in college, I took a writing class that was themed “caffeine culture.” The idea was intriguing, and as a non-coffee drinker, I was more or less an outsider looking in. I have always enjoyed the coffee shop atmosphere, largely due to the element of sophistication. My mind feels most impressionable in this environment, as if the world is full of endless possibilities. Thoughts race in my head, superimposed on the background noises of music, conversation, and the baristas calling out various takes on the combination of caffeine, milk, and sugar. As much as I’ve always considered myself to be a card carrying member of this culture, I never could imagine actually acquiring the palate for the real deal. But I am happy to announce that after nearly completing grad school, I can proudly call myself a coffee drinker. I even purchased the Starbucks black card, which is most likely a marketing ploy that, nevertheless, makes me feel a sense of ownership and belonging. So as I sip on my skinny latte, I have a new found appreciation for the coffee buzz and caffeine culture that brings good conversation, happiness and productivity to our society.
