The Next Level

As you all know, I love love love to run and practice yoga. Actually, I pretty much like doing anything active- it's just a part of who I am. One thing that I've struggled with is consistent strength training. I enjoy group exercise classes, but the class times don't often mesh with my schedule. I enjoy lifting with friends, but don't do so with any regularity. After careful thought and consideration, I decided to hire a personal trainer!!

Tonight was my first session and I was so excited! Before class I was feeling pumped and was excited to see what I would be getting myself into. Jar and I warmed up with a 2 mile walk before I set off for some tail-kicking.

My trainer's name is Emily and she is absolutely amazing. I have known Emily for a couple of years and she was actually my boss when I taught aerobics at Peak Fitness. She has always been a fitness role model to me and I'm so excited to finally work with her.

One of the reasons why I hired a personal trainer was to learn to be more efficient in my workouts. As a distance runner and Bikram fanatic, I obviously need stretches of time geared towards this specific type of training. With my new job, however, I need to streamline my workouts and get things done quickly.

Our first session tonight was 30 minutes and completely wiped me out. I seriously felt more exhausted after this workout than I typically do after yoga or a long run.

What can you do to push yourself?
