There are so many things that I love about my new job. First and foremost, I love being engaged in my work! I am still completely overwhelmed by how much there is to know (and how much I've forgotten!) and find this challenge to be exciting. The physicians I work with are incredible teachers and really push me to understand every single thing that I'm doing. I still feel pretty silly trying to dictate, but have appreciated some growth in my skills even over the past couple of weeks. I am eager to get past this training period but at the same time mildly petrified at the thought of being turned loose!! I am thankful for Whitney who serves as both my inspiration and partner in crime! Did I mention that it rocks to work with your best friend?
(It all started with "MASH")

My new schedule has revolutionized my lifestyle and I must say that I LOVE IT!! I work seven days on (8:00 to 5:00/6:00) and then get seven days OFF. In other words, I am essentially on vacation every other week! My schedule runs from Wednesday to Tuesday which means that every single week I have at least 2 week days off. On those days I typically sleep until 8:00, watch the Today Show, go to Body Pump or Hot Yoga (with all the cute stay at home moms), and have the rest of the day to play house or go to the pool or do whatever the heck I want to!! I do work every other weekend, but find this to be a completely fair trade off. Besides, the weekends are less chaotic and by that time I already know most of my patients. Hooray for compatibility!
I love love love High Point Regional Hospital. It is so refreshing to work in a small community hospital where everyone is personable and (for the most part) happy!! Looking back, Baptist was sterile, transient, and corporate. Each facility has its strengths and weaknesses (ie-some employees at HPRHS wear open toed shoes and don't squirt Purell every single time they enter and exit a room- I find this practice to be bizarre and unsanitary!) but I strongly prefer my new stomping grounds.
Finally, I surprisingly enjoy my commute!! Between morning talk radio, pandora, phone calls, and books on tape, I have an hour and a half every day to decompress. It's rather therapeutic!!

Thank you God for giving me this amazing opportunity to touch lives and serve others. With humility and a humble heart, I pray that I will continue to use these hands to help my patients while allowing your glory to shine through me.
